This is Kato 176-5345 N E8A VIA Rail #1802. EMD E8A with single headlight and passenger pilot, Via Rail Canada #1802. In its formative years, Amtrak relied heavily on acquired equipment to provide its passenger fleets and motive power. For trains routes such as that of the ex-PRR Broadway Limited, Amtrak used a combination of ex-Pennsylvania E8A locomotives and GG1's, just as the Pennsylvania Railroad had done in the years before.
