Central Valley Model Works was founded in 1947 by George Hook. His "Old Timers" wooden freight car kits were what he was first known for. By 1951 work spread fast about their trucks for locomotives, which lasted until the mid 1980's. Jack Porter bought CVMW in 1978 and made it a family owned and operated company. His son, Jeffrey Park is the sole owner. Patricia Parker continued truck production from 1987 to 1997 on a special order limited run basis.
Today CVMW continues as a two person operation selling bridged, ties, turnouts, details and rolling stock.
