K-Line was founded by Maury D. Klein in 1975, a large Lionel dealer that branched out into building their own products like Mike's Train House, better known as MTH, would do in 1980.
MDK later acquired Marx and Kusan tooling to expand their O27 catalog. Later purchases allowed K-Line to offer O Gauge locomotives, rolling stock, and track. Eventually K-Line was purchased by Lionel, and in time the company's product line was merged or replaced with Lionel equivalents. We've compiled a short page on the K-Line numbering scheme to better help collectors.
Due to MDK's use of Marx tooling, many collectors will utilize K-Line components to restore their Marx model trains!
If you want to check out other brands as well, feel free to head to our entire model train collection.
