MPC Trains
Trainz has a huge selection of MPC era trains. Lionel's MPC era was from 1970 to 1986. In 1970 General Mills bought the inventory, the right to use the Lionel name and the manufacturing rights. General Mills relocated Lionel to be right across the road from the Model Plastics Corporation (MPC) in Mount Clemens Michigan. It looked like a brilliant move to capitalize on the extensive plastic molding capabilities of MPC for Lionel. General Mills created it's Fundimensions Toy group in 1973 that included Lionel, MPC, Kenner, Parker Brothers, and Craft Master. This ended in 1986 when Detroit real estate developer Richard Kughn bought Lionel and launched Lionel into the Modern Era.
