Streetcars were once in widespread use across America, and this LGB replica wears the livery and lettering of the New Orleans Public Service Company, whose vintage Perley Thomas streetcars were not only immortalized in the classic film A Streetcar Named Desire, but remain in operation decades after this form of mass transit disappeared from most American cities. The original car number 952, prototype of the LGB model, is also still in use, but today it runs in San Francisco on the F-line from Fisherman's Wharf to Market Street. Sister 900 series cars can be found in museums around the country. The model features the folding doors and fold-down steps of the original. Twin Bühler motors provide power for steep grades, and automatic directional circuitry controls the headlights. This detailed model features weather-resistant construction, factory-installed onboard decoder for MTS and analog operation, opening doors, four-way power control switch, protected gearbox with seven-pole Bühler motor, eight powered wheels, twelve power pickups, voltage stabilization circuit with surge protection, and automatic directional lighting.
