This is a Lindberg 216 1:82 U.S. Coast Guard 95ft Cape-Class Patrol Boat Plastic Model Kit. This 95-foot steel hulled cutter was the first general duty craft built by the United States Coast Guard after World War II. First laid down in 1952 at the Coast Guard Yard, Curtis Bay, Maryland, the cutter was used for port security, and for search and rescue. The patrol boats were unnamed until 1964 when they adopted the Cape-call designation. The iconic Cape-class cutters remain in active patrol until being decomissioned in the late 1980s. Most were either sold to other nations or intentionally sunk as part of an artificial reef program. Equipment on board included radio direction finder, radar fathometer, gyro compass and loran reciever. Power came from four diesel engines, which out out 2,200 B.H.P. and gave the patrol boat a maximum soeed of 21 knots.
