This is a Lionel 2056 Vintage O 4-6-4 Steam Locomotive w/2046-50W Tender from 1952. This is a Korean War hybrid using a Berkshire boiler casting on a Hudson wheel arrangement. Features include a 3-position E-unit, an operating smoke unit and an operating headlight. A 2046-50W tender is included and features die cast trucks, operating rear knuckle coupler, whistle, and metal wheels.
Known as the Baltic in Europe and the Hudson in North America, the 4-6-4 was introduced in the early 20th century finding success in hauling freight and as a shunting model. Their use would initially find great success on North American railways before eventually becoming mainstays in rail-yards around the world!
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-6: Very Good based on visual appearance. Both the locomotive and tender have scratches and nicks on the bodies. One of the rear corner steps on the tender is broken off. The cab numbers have been painted over on the sides of the engine and the roof has been touched up as well. The cab roof is bent at one corner too. When tested the engine runs well in reverse but is a bit slow moving forward. The tender whistle does not work. The original box is not included. Overall condition is Very Good.
