Here is a Lionel 18679 J. C. Penney Texas & Pacific 4-6-2 Steam Locomotive & Tender from 1997. This Locomotive & Tender come with a nice display case complete with an engraved name plate. Features include: intricately realistic detail, an operating headlight, metal wheels, die-cast trucks, and an operating knuckle coupler.
Introduced in its prototype form in the late 19th century, the 4-6-2 would take the world by storm at the turn of the 20th century, being seen as one of the biggest innovation in the history of locomotives -- the 4-6-2 would quickly finds its place in rail-yards across the world. Heralded for its ability to haul passengers, the 4-6-2 was a versatile model hauling freight and coal as well, with tank variants being introduced later during the 20th century. Traveling at speeds upwards of 100mph the 4-6-2was featured on rail-ways ranging from Argentina to Egypt, and all the way to the far East in China! Now's your chance to add some history to your collection.
The locomotive has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. On both the engine & tender the trucks & wheels show signs of use. There are a few small nicks and bubbles in the paint throughout the locomotive & tender. The bottom of the tender has signs of wear as well. The display case shows a few minor scuffs and scratches. The original box for the engine & tender is included along with the foam liner. The instruction manual is included. The original carton for the display case is included as well.
